SUNY Oneonta recognized 54 outstanding students during an Academic Achievement Awards reception on May 3. One to three students were chosen from each of the college's academic departments and programs to receive the 2017 Academic Achievement Awards. Each student selected one faculty guest to accompany them to the recognition event. In addition to their excellent work in the classroom, students were honored for distinguishing themselves in many ways, including research, activism, mentoring, athletics, involvement in campus activities and volunteerism.

At 11 a.m. Saturday, May 20, graduates in the Class of 2017 took center stage for Elizabethtown College's 114th Commencement. Lynn Pasquerella, president of the Association of American Colleges and Universities, spoke.

The State University of New York at Potsdam will recognize more than 1,000 candidates for graduation during the College's 2017 Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 20. The SUNY Potsdam Class of 2017 will be awarded baccalaureate and master's degrees at the ceremony.

The following students achieved the Dean's List at Belmont University for the Spring 2017 semester. Eligibility is based on a minimum course load of 12 hours and a quality grade point average of 3.5 with no grade below a C.

Over 50 students from the Ithaca College School of Health Sciences and Human Performance were inducted into one of three different honor societies: Pi Theta, Rho Phi Lambda, and Alpha Eta.

This spring, the senior McNair Fellows are presenting their undergraduate research projects that they have conducted with Wesleyan faculty mentors. The Wesleyan University Ronald E. McNair Post Baccalaureate Achievement Program, established in 2007, assists students from underrepresented groups with preparing for, entering, and progressing successfully through postgraduate education by providing guidance, research opportunities, and academic and financial support to students planning to pursue PhDs. Junior and Senior Fellows do research with faculty mentors and participate in program activities with the McNair cohort.

In front of a large crowd in Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall on a Saturday night in New York City, Ithaca College music students performed a special concert on the same stage where such famed artists as Yo-Yo Ma, Itzhak Perlman and Joshua Bell have played. Titled "The Exquisite Hour: MusIC of Love and Rapture," the April 29 performance featured the Ithaca College Choir, Chamber Orchestra and Symphony Orchestra.

Seventeen SUNY Oneonta students participated in the 2017 National Model United Nations Conference in New York City from March 19-23. The Oneonta delegation represented South Africa.
